Delta Academy
Delta Academy provides an opportunity for local chapters to collaborate with or work independently on an educational program for at-risk young women between the ages of 11 and 14. The program offers mentoring, educational activities, and service learning opportunities to the participants. The Delta Academy program’s major emphasis is mathematics, science and technology, and encourages young women to excel and pursue careers in these areas. Other components include: A Book Club, Health Education and Parenting Education to involve parents in the Delta Academy program.

Delta GEMS
(Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully)
This program was created in 2004 to help African-American young women between the ages of 14 and 18 realize their dreams. The program targets “at risk” youth. The goals of the Dr. Jeanne L. Noble GEMS Institute (honors the memory of and commitment to promoting academic achievement and excellence of the 12th National President) are to: provide tools that enables girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success; to assist girls in proper goal setting, decision-making; and planning for their futures – high school and beyond; and to create compassionate, caring, community minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities.
  • African American History – The purpose of this component is to create an awareness and understanding that important advances and contributions in a variety of areas are the result of the work done by African-Americans.
  • Literacy – In an effort to promote academic achievement and success, this component will focus on literacy and promote the use of literary works written by African-American authors.
  • Service Learning – Civic engagement has a direct correlation to service learning. Civic engagement and service learning with sustainability practices will instill in our young women the value of democracy and social justice that will last a lifetime.
  • Disaster Preparedness – In this era of numerous national disasters such as destructive hurricanes, massive flooding and extreme heat/cold as well as local disasters that negatively impact millions of families, it is imperative that young people are equipped with knowledge, physical techniques and mental stamina to cope with situations that threaten their safety and well-being.
  • Parents Empowered Active Children Education (PEACE) – This initiative will prepare youth for the world and will solicit a shared responsibility from the entire community. The health of a community can be measured by its success in engaging parents and in developing all of its children.

EMBODI
(Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence)
The EMBODI program is designed to refocus the efforts of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, with the support an action of other major organizations, on the plight of African-American males. This program is designed to assist African-American males to reach their fullest potential educationally, socially and emotionally.
